Dunwoody Apartments for Rent
Dunwoody

Dunwoody, GA is a bustling, area north of Atlanta that has yet to become a city and is still unincorporated. Although Dunwoody, GA appears on maps, and Dunwoody apartments can be searched online, it will not officially become a city until December 2008! According to the 2000 census, the population was 32,808-and it has certainly increased in the time since then. The center of the twelve square mile city is generally considered the intersection of Mount Vernon and Chamblee-Dunwoody Rd. Proposed boundaries for the city of Dunwoody (at the tip of DeKalb County) include North of I-285, west of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, and ending at the Sandy Springs and Gwinnett County boundaries.

Dunwoody was founded by Major Charles Dunwoody, and as is the case with many prominent names, "Dunwoody" is seen in various forms on street signs all over Atlanta (Ashford Dunwoody Rd is an example of another major street bearing the name).

The city has a moderate college-town vibe, but is certainly more than that. Shopping, rustic housing, and the constant buzz of motion surrounding Perimeter Mall make Dunwoody a lovely place to live and work.

Perimeter Mall is one of the most recognizable attractions in Dunwoody. Other organizations, such as the Art Institute of Atlanta, a branch of Georgia Perimeter College, American InterContinental University, and the Marcus Jewish Community Center can be found in Dunwoody.

A MARTA station is also at Perimeter Mall, making it easy for the citizens of Dunwoody to reach downtown and midtown Atlanta for work and play. Other Dunwoody-area stations are on the Fulton County side, and not DeKalb County.

Many parks, including Brook Run, the Dunwoody Nature Center, and Windwood Hollow Park allow citizens to leave their Dunwoody apartments and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful trees.

The schools in Dunwoody are DeKalb county schools, and would remain so even after incorporation, as state law prohibits the creation of new school districts.

Many slight changes may be in store for Dunwoody residents, but most people remain excited about the idea of independence and incorporation.
